Past Projects

Michigan Accessible Homes has been providing architectural services on accessible homes for many years, well over 100 homes by now, all over  Michigan's lower peninsula. Most are under MI No-Fault, so the plans typically go to case managers to put out for bid, and spend a year or more in processing and approvals by the insurance company and the state, so in many cases we don't even hear if anything was constructed from our plans. But we do have information about some to share here.

Click on the highlighted/underlined text for links to PDF plans, and photos where noted.  All plans, designs, and drawings are copyright Cornerstone Design Inc and Michigan Accessible Homes.

The following home accessibility projects were designed by Cornerstone Design Inc, and constructed (except as noted) from construction drawings by CDI:

  • New weekend cottage designed to be adaptable for future accessibility; a ramp and some interior modifications would be needed to be fully accessible, but doors and rooms are designed for accessibility.  Modular construction based on schematic designs by CDI. Union City, MI.

  • New accessible home (construction drawings in process). Levering, MI.

  • Ramp addition onto group home (for Monroe Community Mental Health). Monroe, MI.

  • Shiawassee County Community Mental Health. Three residential renovation projects in Owosso, MI.

  • Master suite addition and interior renovations for wheelchair user's home (for State Farm Insurance). Garden City, MI.

Much of our accessibility work is to assist customers and/or their insurance companies with modifications to existing plans, with evaluating the potential of an existing home, or with assisting attorneys with negotiations with insurance companies. As a result, the work often does not involve full architectural services, or lead directly to construction projects.

The following home accessibility projects involved consulting and/or designs by CDI, but did not (at least to date) proceed to construction drawings or were constructed with drawings by others. In some cases, we worked with the same client to consider both renovations and new construction.
